Hunger Among The Elderly

Hunger Among The Elderly In America we tend to take food for granted but large portion of our population faces the threat of hunger; our elderly. Millions of seniors across the country go hungry or face malnutrition due to a number of factors such as mobility, transportation issues and access financial assistance. North Carolina is in the top ten states in terms of elderly residents going hungry. The AARP is keenly aware of this problem and we're joined by a representative of that group as well as by a woman who works with elders in Mecklenburg County. We will get inside the numbers of our hungry elderly citizens. Guests Suzanne La-Follette-Black - Associate State Director, Community Outreach, AARP-NC Sylvia Paro - Director, Title III Nutrition Program, Mecklenburg County National Council on Aging Add and read comments
