Ballantyne and the Politics of Secession Recently the Ballantyne neighborhood dominated the local news scene because some of its residents spoke of seceding from the city of Charlotte. There are many suburban neighborhoods in our region and, over time, they develop their own identities and business cores but does that prepare them to become incorporated municipalities? The question raised by Ballantyne residents could reverberate around the community so we'll look at the prospect of separation and incorporation for Ballantyne or other outlying Charlotte neighborhoods.
