Losing Our Cool (Rebroadcast) Around the country and especially here in North Carolina this summer, we've experienced some very uncomfortably hot days, sometimes hitting triple digit temperatures. Air-conditioning has made at least the indoors and our cars far more comfortable during the sweltering heat. But is the A/C just enabling our comfort in the heat or is it contributing to the temperature? We'll talk with the author of Losing Our Cool to learn a bit about the history of air-conditioning, how our widespread use of this "cool" invention has changed the way we live, and has contributed to our inability to stand high temperatures, and perhaps has caused an increase of the heat that we escape when we use our air-conditioners. (Originally Aired 8/10/2011) Guest Dr. Stan Cox - Ph.D, Senior scientist at an agricultural research institute in Salina, Kansas. Author of Losing Our Cool: Uncomfortable Truths About Our Air-Conditioned World. Add and read comments
