A Taste of Struggle; Historic Foodways from the Caribbean to the Americas
We kick off Black History Month as we welcome food historians Clarissa Lynch and Chef Cheryl Henry, to the Polk Kitchen House. They will lead a discussion of foodways from the Caribbean tot he Americas that was prepared in the 18th - early 19th century by enslaved persons for their families. Clarissa and Cheryl will also share open hearth cooking techniques through hands on participation. Although sampling is prohibited, the experience and the smells will be plentiful. This class will be limited to eight (8) participants and the minimum age to participate is 18 years and older.
