Bound by a passion for playing music of the 17th and 18th-Centuries, Heartland Baroque dives into the baroque musical world with vigor, showing off the immediacy and technical brilliance, the vivacity and profundity, the lilt, complexity, and spontaneity of its composers. Their September 18, 2023 concert is at 8:00 PM in the Abbey Basilica on the campus of Belmont Abbey College, Belmont, NC. Entitled “Wheel of the Innocents”, it features music from the well-known Venetian Ospitale della Pietà, a charitable community, known for its female orchestra of “orphans” lead by a number of performer/composers including Vivaldi. Come hear music of the 17th century and readings of Venice at this time. The ensemble features strings, theorbo, guitar, dulcian and bassoon. The concert is free to the public. Donations are gladly accepted.
