Carolina Pro Musica presents “Celebrating Alessandro Scarlatti” (who died 300 hundred years ago in 1725). Scarlatti wrote over 60 operas, 600 cantatas and instrumental works. He is credited with developing the musical forms used in the Baroque period. Living between Naples and Rome he wrote works for famous music lovers from Queen Christina of Sweden, Cardinals Ottoboni and Pamphili, Ferdinando de’ Medici and the viceroys of Spain. Come share in fascinating music rarely heard today. The concert is February 28, 2025, 7:30 pm at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 1001 Queens Rd, Charlotte, NC 28207. The program features arias and a cantata plus works with strings and recorder.
