Celebrate the Life of Bertha Maxwell-Roddey
The Robinson-Spangler Carolina Room and the Allegra Westbrooks Regional Library proudly present Dr. Sonya Ramsey, who will discuss her new book, Bertha Maxwell-Roddey: A Modern-Day Race Woman and the Power of Black Leadership. Dr. Maxwell-Roddey was the first black principal in a former white only school in Charlotte. She was the founding director of UNC Charlotte’s Africana Studies Department and in 1974, she cofounded the Afro-American Cultural and Service Center, now the Harvey B.
