GEMS: Carolina Pro Musica - Celebrating Scarlatti
Carolina Pro Musica through the Gaston Early Music Series presents “Celebrating Alessandro Scarlatti” (who died 300 hundred years ago in 1725). Scarlatti wrote over 60 operas, 600 cantatas, and instrumental works. He is credited with developing the musical forms used in the Baroque period. Living between Naples and Rome he wrote works for famous music lovers from Queen Christina of Sweden, Cardinal Ottoboni, Ferdinando de’ Medici, and the viceroys of Spain. Come share in music rarely heard today. The concert is on March 15, 2025, at 11:00 pm at Gaston Public Library (Main), Garrison Blvd, Gastonia, NC 28052. The program features arias and a cantata plus works with strings and, recorder.
