We're used to stories that show friction between some members of the CMS school board and Superintendent Peter Gorman. Well, their disagreements are nothing compared to what's been going on in Burke County northwest of Charlotte. In Burke County, the school board has been in a power struggle with now former superintendent David Burleson. At times, meetings have been so combative that police have responded to 911 calls. The Burke County Commission even padlocked a room to keep the school board from meeting. Still, the board persisted and ousted Burleson without giving a reason. In this segment, WFAE Morning Edition host Scott Graf talks to reporter Steve Ohnesorge. He lives in Morganton - the Burke County seat - and has been covering the controversy for WBTV in Charlotte.
