Forty-niner football got a unanimous vote of support today from the UNC System Board of Governors. UNC Charlotte Chancellor Philip Dubois travelled with a number of students and staff to the meeting in Raleigh asking approval for a tuition and fee increase that includes money for a new football program. "We're on the original time table of kicking off in the fall of 2013," says Dubois. "We'll hire coaches and bring on student athletes in 2012." UNC Charlotte students will pay an additional $120 in fees starting next fall. The fee will grow to $320 a year by 2014. The student fees will help cover operating costs for the football program. Next, Dubois says the school needs approval from the state legislature to borrow $40 million to build a new stadium.
