The Relationship Of Defendant And Attorney

The Demetrius Montgomery trial is wrapping up its second week in Charlotte. Montgomery is accused of murdering CMPD officers Jeff Shelton and Sean Clark in 2007. The defendant has displayed some odd behavior. The first day of court he refused to leave his jail cell. Later, a smiling Montgomery prompted a comment from a potential juror. To learn more about the unique relationships that sometimes exist between defendants and court-appointed attorneys, WFAE's Scott Graf called Kevin Tully, the chief public defender in Mecklenburg County.
