Lambert Ready To Hit Recruiting Trail

On April 15th, UNC-Charlotte football coach Brad Lambert will be able to hit the road recruiting players for a team that won't play its first game until 2013. As the inaugural season approaches, Lambert says he expects the 49ers program to attract a lot of players home. He says that's what has happened at the University of Texas-San Antonio, which begins play this season. Lambert was a guest today on WFAE's Charlotte Talks program. "There's always a group of guys out there (where) maybe a player's from Charlotte, went off to school and wants to come back home. It looks like that's what happened at (University of Texas) San Antonio. They had guys transfer back who are from San Antonio who may have went to school somewhere else." Lambert expects at least half of his first recruiting class to come from North Carolina. He says he will also focus on attracting players from South Carolina and Georgia. The 49ers will play in the second-tier of NCAA football called the Championship Subdivision. That's the same division as Appalachian State.
