NC Regulators Summon Ousted Duke CEO Johnson To Tell His Side

North Carolina utility regulators have ordered former Progress Energy CEO Bill Johnson to give his side of the ongoing saga over his sudden ouster. Earlier this week, Duke CEO Jim Rogers testified a "lack of confidence" in Johnson's leadership skills led the board of the newly-merged companies to fire the Progress CEO rather than making him head of the company. Johnson has been ordered to testify before the North Carolina Utilities Commission next Thursday, along with two former Progress Energy board members, Marie McKee and James Hyler. Both now sit on the new Duke board. The following day, utility regulators have summoned Duke Energy board member Michael Browning and lead director Ann Gray to testify. Utilities Commissioners are trying to decide whether to rescind or alter their approval of the Duke/Progress merger as a result of the leadership switch.
