CMS Town Hall Meetings Begin Tonight

Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools Superintendent Heath Morrison wants to hear what advice CMS employees, parents, and community members have for him. CMS is conducting a series of thirteen town hall meetings throughout the district. Half of them will be for the community, the other half just for CMS employees. Morrison says he's already heard from many teachers that low morale is a big problem as the district has made cuts, raised class sizes, unrolled new tests and began working on a pay for performance plan. "So I think that that's an area where I think our employees need to really make sure that they're being listened to, that they're being heard, and that they have an opportunity to weigh in," says Morrison. The first employee town hall begins tonight at 6 o'clock at North Meck. The first community meeting is this Thursday at Rocky River High school. The meetings are scheduled through November.
