Fourth Person Arrested In Connection With Fatal East Charlotte Shooting
A 16-year-old is the latest person to be charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a woman in east Charlotte on April 3. According to CMPD, Ziaya Jackson turned herself in Saturday. She’s been charged with murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon.
She’s the fourth person charged in the murder of Maria Echeverria de Gomez. Antonio Shine, 19, A’vone Williams, 17, and an unnamed 15-year-old male also face the same charges.
Police were called to an area near Vista Villa Apartments off Barrington Drive the morning of April 3rd, where they found Echeverria de Gomez suffering from a gunshot wound. She was brought to Carolinas Medical Center, where she died a short time later.
This was Charlotte’s 13th homicide of the year. There have been 15 homicides in 2018.
