A sexual assault nurse examiner testified Wednesday in the trial of Kevin Olsen that she found bruises and a laceration on the woman who has accused him of rape.

Taneika Torres of Atrium Health said her exam noted a bruise around the patient’s left eye and right arm, as well as a knot on the back of her head. She also said she found a laceration during the pelvic exam, and noted that Olsen’s accuser complained of pain on her lower abdomen.

Torres testified as a prosecution witness during the third day of the rape trial of Olsen, a former UNC Charlotte football player and the brother of Panthers tight end Greg Olsen.

Torres read from her examination chart, which is written from the perspective of the patient: "After he did this and in parentheses it says ‘pointing to her face and bruised eye’ he said I want to have sex. I was crying shaking so I  didn’t say anything. I just laid there. I was so scared. I didn’t know what to do. He started to take my clothes off and I still just laid there and cried. That’s when he got mad and passed out. I got up put my clothes on and went to his roommate and told him what happened. "

Olsen and his accuser were in a troubled year-long relationship when she says he raped her in February 2017.

Jurors also heard from CMPD crime scene technician Amanda Blain, who collected a cheek swab from Olsen and took photographs of him as part of a suspect kit. Some of the photos required Olsen to remove all of his clothes. Defense attorney George Laughrun’s cross-examination of her aimed to point out that Olsen had nothing to hide during the process.

LAUGHRUN: You asked him to disrobe? BLAIN: Correct LAUGHRUN: And he did. Correct? BLAIN: Correct LAUGHRUN: Nobody had to get a search warrant to take the photographs, right? BLAIN: Correct LAUGHRUN: And if somebody refused that would be the next step? BLAIN: Yes

The trial continues today with a prosecution witness expected to be on the stand for several hours. It’s not clear who that witness is. The prosecution has yet to call CMPD detective Christina Cougill who investigated the case.
