Authorities in South Carolina are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred Saturday evening in the upstate town of Woodruff, near Spartanburg.
The State Law Enforcement Division says a man was shot and wounded during what started as a routine traffic stop. In a news release Sunday morning, the state agency said no other information about the incident would be released at this time. The condition of the person who was shot is not known.
There have been 34 officer-involved shootings in South Carolina this year, SLED says. There were 49 officer-involved shootings in the state last year.
