Flames engulfed a family’s one-story home Christmas night on Everette Keith Road, causing extensive damage. The Huntersville Fire Department said the residents were not hurt in Tuesday night’s fire, but the family dog did perish in the blaze. A firefighter also suffered a leg injury while responding to the fire.
The fire department said the home is a total loss. WSOC-TV reported that it took 19 firefighters and several volunteers about 30 minutes to put out the fire. The cause of the flames remains unknown.
Meanwhile, in Charlotte, firefighters responded to smaller house fires at a home on Kingscross Drive in south Charlotte Tuesday night and a nearby home on Gresham Place early Wednesday morning. No injuries were reported in either of incidents.
