Anson High School’s colors are orange and blue, but this Friday’s home game will be filled with fans dressed in red in remembrance of the school’s career development coordinator killed in an accident this weekend.
The Bearcats are having a “redout” Friday in honor of Kim Ingold and her love for NC State, where she was an alumnus. Ingold died Saturday on NC 24/27 near Biscoe. Her vehicle was hit head-on by a septic pumper truck, which sideswiped another vehicle before hitting Ingold.
Principal Chris Stinson says Ingold, who turned 50 on Friday, spent about 25 years in the county, teaching and working in career development and technology to get students internships and jobs. He says her death is a major loss to the Wadesboro school.
"She was liked by not only staff but students. Very supportive of students and attended a lot of athletic events or extracurricular activities they were involved in, took pictures of the students and would post them to their Facebook page. She did our career fairs and set up a lot of opportunities for students in getting jobs. Very focused in helping students take that next step in life," says Stinson.
Stinson went on to say that Ingold had an outgoing personality and was also active in the community. He says the mood is somber at Anson High as everyone tries to move forward without one of their bright lights — someone who inspired them all to live life to the fullest.
