Concord Police said Thursday that skeletal remains found in a wooded area near the intersection of Davidson Highway and Winecoff School Road are Crystal Dawn Morrison, who has been missing since 2012.
Morrison was identified by dental records. No cause of death was released.
A survey crew working in the area Dec. 9, 2019, found Morrison’s remains and alerted Concord Police.
Morrison was 31 when she was reported missing Aug. 24, 2012 by her family. Friends said Morrison left work early Aug. 23, 2012 because she wasn’t feeling well. She stopped at a Shell gas station and waited for a ride. When her ride arrived, Morrison wasn’t there. No one heard from her again.
A memorial mass for Morrison is scheduled for Jan. 20 at St. Anne Catholic Church in Rock Hill, South Carolina, at 3 p.m.
The investigation into Morrison’s disappearance and death is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call 704-920-5000 or contact Cabarrus County Crime Stoppers at 704-93-CRIME.
