    Heather Berlin unlocks the secrets of attention, perception, and human wellbeing, and shows how these human traits are key to the future digital economy. Her fascinating talk explores the brain basis of consciousness, dynamic unconscious processes, and creativity - and how we can make better decisions and get the most out of our brains.

    Berlin is a neuroscientist, clinical psychologist, and associate clinical professor of psychiatry and neuroscience at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She explores the neural basis of impulsive and compulsive psychiatric and neurological conditions with the goal of developing novel treatments. Berlin hosts the new Nova series “Your Brain.” She received her doctorate from the University of Oxford, and Master of Public
    Health from Harvard University, and trained in clinical neuropsychology at Weill Cornell Medicine’s Department of Neurological Surgery.

    Connect. Consider. Ignite. Doors open at 6:00 to mix and mingle. The program runs from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM including time for conversation, connections, and Q&A.

    The Forum has a three-part structure:

    • First third: Participants connect in small break-out groups prompted by a question;

    • Middle third: Participants consider a presentation by a guest speaker that ends with a question posed to the audience;

    • Final third: Participants discuss the question, igniting new ideas and possibilities.

    Many people may not realize that the images on static billboards are printed on giant swaths of vinyl material. ArtPop Street Gallery, diverts 13,000+ square feet of vinyl from landfills every year.
    Upcycling the billboard vinyl into fashion, framed art, tote bags and more.
    Our Upcycled Fashion show supports both sustainability and local artists small businesses.

    The 12 Charlotte regional artists involved are from a variety of media backgrounds: textile, multi-media, digital, painting and more.
    ArtPop commissioned these artists to transform the billboard vinyl into pieces that the models walk the catwalk in!

    ArtPop turns interstate highways and other common areas into outdoor art galleries throughout the Charlotte region and across the country too. The nonprofit organization's mission is to connect local artists with billboard advertising and other media companies who showcase their art. This promotes artists and offers the community thought-provoking and inspirational creations that everyone can enjoy – for free! We have many ways we support and showcase local artists, delivering on mission 365 days a year. We showcase and support artists of the 13 county greater Charlotte Region.

  • JazzArts Charlotte presents Grammy-nominated Israeli flutist Itai Kriss, for a FREE jazz workshop, in conjunction with his JAZZ ROOM weekend performances. As a way to deepen the interaction of our national jazz performing artists with the local music community, JazzArts Charlotte welcomes student musicians from the Charlotte area and beyond to learn from this world-renowned jazz innovator.
    This applied workshop is open to middle and high schooler musicians, with at least a year on your instrument. All instruments are welcome – you are invited to bring it along.

    Itai Kriss, a Grammy nominated recording artist praised by Jazzwax as “one of the most exciting new flutist-composers” on the scene, commands a variety of musical genres with an eclectic style infused with Jazz, Latin and Middle Eastern sounds. After spending the past 20 years working at the forefront of New York City’s Jazz scene while performing, recording and touring with some of the world’s top Afro-Cuban, Latin and Salsa artists, flute virtuoso Itai Kriss fuses the sounds of his native Israel with those of his adopted homelands in the Americas to create TELAVANA. His third album, Supermoon, was released in 2021.
