First exhibition on North Carolina founder of the National Negro Opera Company closing soon
The first-ever exhibition on Madison, North Carolina, native and classical music trailblazer Mary Cardwell Dawson will close at the end of the month at the Charlotte Museum of History after a nearly one-year run. Dawson, barred from opera companies as a singer and pianist, founded the National Negro Opera Company in Pittsburgh in 1941.

Parents, employees question spending at closed Charlotte school
It’s been about two months since a private school in Charlotte with 300 students announced it would not continue to operate in the fall.
