  • Our 100 Gardens family invites you to come out to one of our viewing party locations on July 17th to watch the Homegrown Tomato Festival, presented by Duke’s Mayonnaise and supporting the non-profit, 100 Gardens.   • Volunteers will place household goods, personal items, and food supplies, among other products, in car trunks and on truck beds of up to 2,000 local families. The Big Pop Up, sponsored by the North Carolina Community Action Association and hosted by Charlotte Area Fund, Inc., is open to the public at no cost on a first come, first-served basis. The contactless drive-through distribution event requires participants to safely remain in their vehicles and drive through various stations to collect the supplies.
  • An interactive literacy program featuring board books and simple stories, finger plays, simple songs, nursery rhymes, and movement activities. For ages birth - 36 months old. Each Storytime will have age-appropriate activities to promote and extend literacy at home. *This program repeats at 11:00-12:00 on the same dates.
  • A family program, geared towards children ages 2-6 with developmental and sensory issues, but inclusive to all children and families of all abilities. Children will engage in various activities that may include stories, music, rhymes, movement and sensory opportunities. Group participation is not necessary.

  • Reflections in Pastel will feature the art of Lenoir artist Roberta C. Kogut and will be on display starting July 9, 2021 through August 27, 2021. Roberta Kogut studied art at Baldwin-Wallace College, but painting took a back seat for years while life led her down various paths. When she and her husband, Bob, moved to the Happy Valley community over twenty years ago, she finally found the time, space, and inspiration to create and paint again. Roberta has always enjoyed painting portraits, landscapes and still-lifes. She finds beauty in the poetry of everyday life, focusing on the effect of light as it shines through, dances around, and reflects off of her subjects. The Caldwell Arts Council is located at 601 College Ave SW in Lenoir, NC, and is open to the public Tuesday through Friday from 9am to 5pm.

  • July continues the outdoor summer series Jazz at Victoria Yards in uptown Charlotte In partnership with Charlotte Center City Partners showcasing a variety of the region’s top jazz musicians, to rock the stage at uptown Victoria Yards. For July, we begin with jazz standards by the Ariel Pocock Trio. Ariel Pocock’s music has a “true facility for…sinewy jazz piano [and] breezy, achingly plain-spoken vocal chops…” (Seattle Times). Ariel has recorded 3 albums and we’ve enjoyed Ariel at the Jazz Festival and in the JAZZ ROOM several times, including the 2019 Holiday Edition Piano Night and March 2019 Women in Jazz. This trio will feature Ron Brendle on bass, Troy Conn and Scott Sawyer on guitar, and John Spurrier on drums. As the sun sets, we’ll spice it up with Jazziando. This quintet, co-led by Percussionist Billy Marrero and Trumpeter Alberto Carrasquillo, performs instrumental Latin Jazz with Brazilian infused rhythms, a drum beat beyond the generic salsa, jazzy versatility and a rock heavy Cuban downbeat. Sit back and enjoy their sound, or get on the dance floor moving to the mambos. We’ll also have the JazzArts Youth All-Stars to showcase the future stars of jazz right here in Charlotte.   • JazzArts Charlotte’s virtual live music series is excited to present drummer Kobie Watkins, whose Grouptet will be performing from his albums “Movement” and “Involved”, songs intended to connect your soul with your feet. Kobie Watkins is one of the most dynamic jazz drummers in the region. Band director by day, nicknamed “the swingmaster of Chicago” by night, you cannot help but catch his enthusiasm.
