She has completed doctoral coursework in Mass Communication at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s School of Journalism. There, she studied the homeless press and self-representation in mass media. Anasa earned a Master’s in Mass Communication at California State University, Northridge where her thesis focused on the public relations and media campaign to release her classmate from solitary confinement in Tehran, Iran. The classmate was studying the women’s movement in Tehran for a documentary film and was silenced and arrested by the Iranian government in 2008.

Dana is an award-winning producer who began as a personality at Rock 92. Once she started creating content for morning shows, she developed a love for producing. Dana has written and produced for local and syndicated commercial radio for over a decade. WUNC is her debut into public radio and she’s excited to tell deeper, richer stories.

Aspen native Elizabeth Stewart-Severy is excited to be making a return to both the Red Brick, where she attended kindergarten, and the field of journalism. She has spent her entire life playing in the mountains and rivers around Aspen, and is thrilled to be reporting about all things environmental in this special place. She attended the University of Colorado with a Boettcher Scholarship, and graduated as the top student from the School of Journalism in 2006. Her lifelong love of hockey lead to a stint working for the Colorado Avalanche, and she still plays in local leagues and coaches the Aspen Junior Hockey U-19 girls.

Mary Tabor Engel is a journalist, whose career in print and radio has included reporting and editing positions at The Christian Science Monitor, The Boston Globe, NPR, and The New York Times, where she was a member of the metropolitan staff that won a Pulitzer for its coverage of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. In addition to serving as an investigative journalist, her beats included New York’s Federal Courts, National Education Correspondent, Book Publishing Correspondent, and General correspondent for Brooklyn. A native of Memphis, TN, Mary graduated from Princeton University and lived and worked in Boston, Washington, DC, New York City, London, and Montclair, NJ, before moving to Charlotte with her husband and four children in 2006. Her board service has included the Princeton University Board of Trustees, Hutchison School National Alumnae Board, Teach for America (Charlotte), Opera Carolina, The Daily Memphian, World View at UNC-Chapel Hill, and The First Church of Christ, Scientist, Charlotte. Mary currently is a part-time instructor in the Knight School for Journalism at Queens University of Charlotte.

Mallory Noe-Payne is a freelance reporter and producer based in Richmond, Virginia. Although she's a native Virginian, she's most recently worked for public radio in Boston. There, she helped produce stories about higher education, including a nationally-airing series on the German university system. In addition to working for WGBH in Boston, she's worked at WAMU in Washington D.C. She graduated from Virginia Tech with degrees in Journalism and Political Science.

Robbie grew up in New Hampshire, but has since written stories for radio stations from Washington, D.C., to a fishing village in Alaska. Robbie graduated from the University of Maryland and got his start in public radio at the Transom Story Workshop in Woods Hole, Massachusetts. Before arriving at Maine Public Radio, he worked in the Midwest, where he covered everything from beer to migrant labor for public radio station WMUK in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Before joining the UNC Charlotte College of Arts + Architecture, Meg Freeman Whalen served as the Director of Public Relations and Community Engagement for the Charlotte Symphony. Prior to joining the Symphony, Meg was a freelance music and dance writer for the Charlotte Observer and the arts editor for Charlotte magazine. She also taught in the music department at Queens University of Charlotte from 1994 to 2013.

Jennifer Weingart is a reporter and All Things Considered host. She holds a degree in broadcasting and journalism from Central Michigan University, prior work experience from WCMU in Mt. Pleasant, Mich. and WDET in Detroit. She likes stories that involve passionate people doing awesome things. Her work is heard on WVPE, the Michigan Public Radio Network, Indiana's regional journalism cooperative and a few times on NPR.
