The war in Afghanistan will go down as the longest in American history and as one more so-called dirty war in our country's 200-year history of fighting such conflicts. Dirty wars are everything regular warfare is not. They are especially bloody, polarizing and poorly understood but Davidson College's Dr. Russell Crandall has mare it his business to understand them and to suggest ways of fighting them differently. He explains.
