Immigration policy has been at the forefront of President Trump’s priorities during his second term.
As the Trump administration attempts to hit deportation goals, agents with Immigration and Customs Enforcement have arrested people around courthouses, workplaces and community gathering spots. This has caused fear in neighborhoods across the country, including in Charlotte. In recent weeks, protests against ICE detentions have come to a head.
In many ways, Trump is making good on immigration promises he made during his campaign. Have the detentions impacted how the public view his policies? What kind of impact could it all have on the 2026 midterm and 2028 general election? What are the short- and long-term impacts on the communities being targeted for deportation?
All this, and more, next time on Charlotte Talks.
