Over three hours on Friday night, jurors in the high-profile trial about Jane Doe's reported sex assault agonized over some questions but found others easy; "I just need to get this right."

A jury ruled Friday that Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools did not violate the Title IX civil rights of a former Myers Park High student who said the school system didn't protect her after a 2015 sexual assault.

Testimony is underway in the civil trial of a former Myers Park High student suing Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and the city of Charlotte, alleging her Title IX rights were violated after she was sexually assaulted. Numerous witnesses were called Tuesday, including the plaintiff’s father.

A parent triggered an investigation that led to Myers Park High School having its playoff football season vacated and being forced to pay more than $6,700 in penalties.

A former school resource officer at Charlotte's Myers Park High was the responding officer in reports of sexual assault that led to six arrests, according to court documents. The officer had been accused in a lawsuit of downplaying reports of sexual assault. The school's handling of sexual assault accusations has been a major story in Charlotte over the last year.

Last month, Myers Park High School hosted a packed crowd for the school’s homecoming football game against rival South Mecklenburg High School. South Meck won, 3-0. The two teams were kept separate, but Myers Park players were not separated from South Meck fans. One student was hit by football players after the game, resulting in a broken nose that needed surgery. The family still is hoping for accountability, but instead, believe they've been stonewalled and ridiculed.

Robert Folk has been named principal of Myers Park High, one of North Carolina's largest schools. The previous principal was reassigned after an investigation into handling sexual assault reports from students.

The contract renewal of suspended Myers Park High Principal Mark Bosco is no longer on the agenda for Tuesday's Charlotte-Mecklenburg school board meeting. He was suspended with pay on Friday, and an interim principal has already been named. But a report on Title IX policies and procedures will be discussed.

During a Charlotte-Mecklenburg school board meeting this month, a former Myers Park High School student said she never reported her sexual assault because of the message of discouraging filing reports that she received from the administration. Her assault she said, was like many others and took place in the wooded area surrounding the school.
