Chinese Folk Music from Violinist Colin Jacobsen

In his final performance as Performance Today's Young Artist in Residence, Colin Jacobsen begins with "Mulberries," another song by Christina Courtin. Courtin provides the vocals, Steven Beck plays piano, and Jacobsen is the violinist. We also get an inside scoop from Jacobsen's dad, Eddie, who played violin in the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra for 35 years.

The quartet plays two Chinese folk songs by Zhou Long, followed a Romance for Violin and Piano by Chen Yi. Debussy's stunning String Quartet ends the week, along with a small solo tribute by Jacobsen: his mother’s favorite piece, Debussy's Le Fille aux Chevaux du lin, "The Girl with the Flaxen Hair."
