Behind the Myths of America's 'Creation'

In his new book, American Creation, historian Joseph Ellis gets to the bottom of some of the tall tales about America's founding fathers.

Ellis says that the founding of the country was an era of flawed greatness — his account of the founding of the republic details both the triumphs and the failures of the country's first leaders.

Ellis is a Pulitzer Prize-winning historian and the author of Founding Brothers and American Sphinx. He is a professor of history at Mount Holyoke College.
