There's A Discrepancy In SC Gov. Haley's Transparency

The State Newspaper has uncovered a discrepancy between how much income SC Governor Nikki Haley reported on her tax returns in 2007 ($22,000) and how much she told a prospective employer she'd earned that year ($125,000). In August 2008, Haley applied for a job as a fundraiser at Lexington Medical Center. The State obtained documents from her application in which Haley claimed to have earned $125,000 the previous year and expected the hospital to pay her a similar amount, if hired. But on her 2007 federal tax returns, Haley reported earning only $22,000 working at her parent's clothing store, Exotica International. Haley's chief of staff, Tim Pearson told, The State Newspaper someone else must have filled out the job application form because it was "illogical" for Haley to claim she made $125,000. Lexington Medical Center officials say that hospital staff did not fill out or alter Haley's job application. The first-term Republican Governor campaigned on the need for more government transparency, but refused several requests from the media to release personal documents. She only released her tax returns after her election opponents released theirs. Read more below: What did Haley earn in 2007? Hospital: No one here filled out application for Haley
