Bottoms Up Prank Gets Myers Park Grad Ban From CMS Property

A Charlotte teen-ager has been permanently banned from Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools property after a prank during a graduation ceremony last weekend. Myers Park High student Nicholas de la Canal dropped his pants as he walked across the stage of his school's graduation last Saturday and "mooned" the audience. Canal did not pull down his boxer shorts. CMS reports it was the only disruption during all of this year's graduation ceremonies. The stunt is getting a lot of attention, and some praise. For example, "The Bottom Line" program on Fox Sports 730-AM named De la Canal an honorary member of the "Bottom Line" family." Such a distinction could come in handy someday. The Charlotte Observer reports De la Canal intends to major in broadcast journalism at Emerson College in Boston.
