University of North Carolina has 90 days to respond to the NCAA's 42-page "Notice of Allegations." The school received the letter on Tuesday. The letter accuses the football program of nine violations. From the News & Observer: The alleged violations include failure to monitor the program, academic fraud involving a tutor and failure to follow up in 2009 and 2010 on tips related to improper benefits provided to a football player. Another allegation involved a former associate head coach who while on an agent's payroll attempted to sway players to sign with the agent. The former coach is John Blake, who resigned after the team's first game last season. Blake was in charge of recruiting for head coach Butch Davis. In a prepared statement, UNC-Chapell Hill Chancellor Holden Thorp said: "I deeply regret that Carolina is in this position. We made mistakes, and we have to face that."
