UNC-Chapel's Kenan-Flagler Business School is putting its reputation on the line by going online. It's the first top-20 business school to offer a full-time online MBA program, the Wall Street Journal reports. It's called MBA@UNC. It's a controversial move. Such programs are dominated by for-profit private schools like the University of Phoenix and Capella University. WSJ reports that business school officials have gone to great lengths to overcome the negative stigma associated with some online MBA programs. MBA@UNC will offer the same core classes as the on-campus MBA program, and UNC officials say admission standards are just as high. It's also pricey. The cost is $89,000 over two years for residents and non-residents. The school's regular full-time two-year program is $52,000 for residents and $98,000 for non-residents.
