The Union County School Board has picked a new superintendent. She is current Deupty Superintendent Mary Ellis, who has worked in the system for more than 30 years. The school board offered her a four-year contract at $190,000 a year. She will replace superintendent Ed Davis, who is retiring at the end of June. Union County Schools is the sixth largest school district in North Carolina .
