Chuck Prophet makes his fifth appearance on Mountain Stage, live from the Culture Center Theater in Charleston, W.V. On the eve of Hurricane Sandy, Prophet was added to the lineup only hours before showtime, when another performer opted to return home before the storm hit. Prophet happened to be in the area — while en route to his West Coast home — when he agreed to make a detour.

Prophet rose to the occasion in a big way, even working up two free-wheeling rock numbers with the Mountain Stage band, drawn from his latest album Temple Beautiful, a tribute to his home city of San Francisco.

Prophet began his musical career in the early '80s, with the psychedelic-inspired rock band Green on Red. In addition to his highly regarded solo work (which frequently draws comparison to heavyweights like Tom Petty and Alex Chilton), Prophet is a sought-after producer, writer and guitarist, having worked with everyone from roots-rock icon Alejandro Escovedo to Warren Zevon.

Prophet is followed by Mountain Stage pianist Bob Thompson, with his timely reworking of Andy Williams' "Moon River."
