Allison Moorer makes her fourth trip to Mountain Stage, recorded live on the campus of West Virginia University. A singer's singer, Moorer spent years paying dues as a struggling songwriter and backing vocalist. But her music found its way to the audience it deserved when her song "A Soft Place To Fall" was featured on the soundtrack to The Horse Whisperer, and she's had the respect of critics and fans ever since.
As a writer, Moorer's songs are often informed by the tragedies of her youth, which serve as a powerful backdrop for her soaring, soulful voice. Her new album, Down To Believing, chronicles the love and anguish that consumed her after the end of her second marriage.
Moorer plays half of her set solo, and the other half backed by the Mountain Stage band.
