From Christian Rock To Gay Pride: One Singer's Journey

Everyday Sunday Facebook page.

About a decade ago, the band Everyday Sunday had several hits on the Christian Rock music charts. The band's founder, Trey Pearson, switched to independent record labels a few years ago.  Pearson, now 35, made headlines earlier this year by publicly announcing that he is gay.

Pearson's revelation got the Christian music world talking - and he was interviewed on television's "The View."  On Saturday, he'll appear on stage at the Charlotte Pride festival.   WFAE's Mark Rumsey talked with Pearson about his coming out, and his career.

Read Religion News Service story on Trey Pearson, including his  letter to fans and friends, released in May.

Mark Rumsey grew up in Kansas and got his first radio job at age 17 in the town of Abilene, where he announced easy-listening music played from vinyl record albums.
