A furniture maker in Morganton is laying off some 121 employees, citing significant damage from Tropical Storm Helene.
In a notice to the state, the CEO of E.J. Victor Inc. also says the company’s insurance claim for damages related to the storm was denied. The company previously said its plant and corporate offices were flooded by the storm.
The company has filed a lawsuit against its insurance company over the denied claim.
