Economic Impact Studies Charlotte has many large scale public/private works that include the light rail system, the basketball arena and the Nascar Hall of Fame. All of these projects start out big on vision but less sure of the impact of the finished project. Advocates turn to economic impact studies to help the public understand what a new project could mean in terms of job creation, economic stimulus or an increase in tourism. Local and national economists are often hired to conduct these studies but it's an inexact science and there is a lot at stake.
