New North Carolina District Maps Every decade new political maps are drawn and they are often contentious affairs. This years redistricting process is no exception. A Republican led general assembly has recently proposed and voted in a new map for North Carolina. Just about every expert agrees that the new maps will put the GOP in power for as much as a decade but some of those in the know say that the maps could boost urban and minority voters as well. Some of this is due to uneven population growth around the state. We'll look at the new maps, the fight over them and who stands to gain or lose the most.
