Police officers were out in full force Friday patrolling the streets of Charlotte-Mecklenburg's North Division. That area stretches from Derita in the south to the Lake Norman area. The police department says putting nearly the whole division on patrol was part of an effort to reduce crime and build closer relationships with neighbors. WFAE followed officers in one neighborhood dealing with lots of foreclosures. It turned into a photo-op. Police left after visiting just a few homes. On Friday's All Things Considered, WFAE's Mark Rumsey spoke with Captain Greg Collins about the new initiative. He oversees the North Division.
