South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford faces 37 charges he broke the law in his use of state planes and campaign funds. WFAE's Julie Rose reports: Governor Sanford's travel practices have been under scrutiny since he returned from a five day trip to Argentina to visit his mistress. The South Carolina Ethics Commission says Sanford upgraded to business or first-class plane tickets 18 times, despite a state law that requires officials to buy the least-expensive ticket when traveling on the taxpayer's dime. Sanford also allegedly used the state plane nine times for personal or Republican Party use and spent nearly $3,000 of his campaign funds for personal use. Sanford's attorney says the charges are minor and that the Governor's travels are being taken out of context. Sanford could face thousands of dollars in fines if the Ethics Commission finds him guilty. Several state lawmakers hope to use the charges as a springboard to impeach the Governor. They begin deliberating Tuesday.
