Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry died in Charlotte this morning from injuries sustained yesterday from falling out of a truck his fiance' was driving. WFAE's Greg Collard reports. Charlotte police say the couple was involved in a "domestic situation" late Wednesday morning when Henry's fiance' drove away from her family's home on Peachtree road in northwest Charlotte. As she was driving, Henry jumped in the back of the truck. Jed Beck passed the truck on a lunch break. He says the driver appeared under control, but he saw Henry atop a large tool box in the truck bed. "And his head was poking inside the cabin window, so his head was in the truck. And his body was outside, and he's holding on - his arms were completely outstretched holding on to both sidesand didn't have a shirt. Me and my co-worker thought it was completely bizarre because it was 40 degrees outside." Henry fell out of the truck on Oakdale Road, about a half-mile away from where he got on it. Police say he died at 6:36 a.m. today at Carolinas Medical Center. An official cause of death has not been released. Henry was in staying in Charlotte with his fiance' while recovering from an injury sustained this season. His fiance', Loleini Tonga, is a 2002 graduate of West Charlotte High School. Henry's five seasons in the NFL were noted for moments of brilliance on the field and high-profile troubles off it that landed him several game suspensions. He was 26 years old. Henry and Tonga have three children.
