Motive Still Sought For Man Who Intentionally Drove His Vehicle Into Restaurant
It’s still not clear what caused a man to intentionally drive his Jeep into the Surf and Turf Lodge in Bessemer City yesterday during lunchtime killing his daughter and daughter-in-law who were inside.
Three others were injured.
Roger Self, 62, faces two counts of first-degree murder. His daughter, 26-year-old Katelyn Self, was a Gaston County Sheriff’s deputy. Sheriff Alan Cloninger told WSOC it was a tragic loss of life.
“All I’d ask from the people is to keep the family in your prayers and also the sheriff’s office because we’re suffering a little bit right now,” Cloninger said.
Roger Self is expected in court today.
