Woman Killed In Overnight Shooting
A woman was shot and killed near uptown early Monday morning, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
Police responded to a call for service at 3:59 a.m. to a report of assault with a deadly weapon in the 900 block of North Tryon Street. When officers arrived on the scene, they found Shalamar Venable, 39, with apparent gunshot wounds. Venable was transported to Carolinas Medical Center with life-threatening injuries but died a short time later.
Police say they believe Venable and the suspected shooter know each other.
