After more than four years of construction, 36th Street reopened Thursday evening between North Tryon and North Davidson streets in the NoDa neighborhood.
The street had been closed since June 2014, while workers rebuilt the road under a new Blue Line light-rail bridge. Charlotte-Area Transit System announced the reopening on Twitter and thanked residents for their patience while crews completed the work.
Councilmember Larken Egleston, who represents NoDa residents, filmed his first walk down 36th street with a resident on Facebook Live.
The road was supposed to reopen Sept. 30, but had been delayed because of Hurricane Florence.
