Authorities in Stanly County say two people died in a house fire early Wednesday morning in the town of Badin.
Police told the Stanly News & Press that a neighbor called 911 shortly after 5 a.m. to report the fire. When first responders got there, the house was in flames.
Police said family members were notified of the deaths, but the names of the two victims were not released. WSOC-TV reports the victims were male cousins, in their 60s. There’s no word on how the fire started.
The Stanly County fire marshal is investigating, along with other local, state and federal agencies.
