Police: Man Shot Near Gastonia Mall In A 'Possible Case Of Road Rage'
Gastonia police are investigating after a man was shot near Eastridge Mall Wednesday afternoon during what they say could be a "possible case of road rage."
According to officials, the shooting was reported around 1:30 p.m. Police say the shooting occurred off New Hope Road or Interstate 85. After the man was shot, police say, he pulled into the mall parking lot to get help. He was then taken to the hospital, where he is being treated for a gunshot wound to the leg. The man’s identity has not been released.
Police say the investigation is still in the early stages, but preliminary findings show the shooting could have been spurred by an incident of road rage. The department did not release any further information at this time.
