Police say a woman was found shot to death in east Charlotte early Wednesday.
Officers were called to the 3400 block of Biscayne Drive just after 8:45 a.m. for reports of a person down on the ground. That's where they found the woman, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Biscayne is off Eastway Drive, just south of Central Avenue and near Eastway Middle and a busy shopping center.
The woman's identity was not immediately released, and police did not provide any information about potential suspects. Homicide detectives were canvassing the scene and looking for witnesses late Wednesday morning.
This is the 75th homicide reported in Charlotte this year.
Police are asking anyone with information on the case to call 704-432-8477 to talk to a detective.
