Charlotte Talks: Causes And Consequences In The Middle East With Ambassador Ryan Crocker

Wednesday, September 5, 2018

Guest host Erik Spanberg takes a look at 'causes and consequences' of tension in the Middle East with Ryan Crocker- a man who has been U.S. ambassador to several countries in that part of the world, including Iraq and Afghanistan.

Tension and conflict in the Middle East continue as they have for decades. Ryan Crocker has been a U.S. ambassador to six countries in that part of the world since the 1970's, including Iraq and Afghanistan.

Ambassador Crocker  joined us in January, and now, in advance of his appearance in Charlotte with the World Affairs Council Charlotte, he joins guest host Erik Spanberg for an update on the Middle East- including U.S. Diplomats sitting down for peace talks with members of the Taliban just last month- without members of the Afghan government.

We'll go over the latest on that situation with Ambassador Crocker and hear his take on what implications this may have for future peaceful relations with Middle Eastern countries.

Guest:

Ryan Crocker, former U.S. ambassador to Iraq and Afghanistan
